US retail chain Best Buy is to start installing technology vending machines in US airports. From September 1st vending machines branded Best Buy Express will be installed in airports in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and San Francisco. They will sell a variety of gadgets, including phones, digital cameras, flash drives, MP3 players, headphones, travel adapters and chargers. "The launch of Best Buy Express is another way for Best Buy to provide consumers with the products they need from a brand they trust, even while they're on-the-go," said Chris Stidman, vice president of Strategic Planning for Best Buy. "Whether travelers are looking to purchase a last minute gift or are in need of replacement for a lost, forgotten or broken product, these kiosks will allow them to purchase the product they want from a brand they trust." The machines will be fitted with credit card payment systems to avoid consumers having to put in large amounts of cash for their purchases. Written by Iain Thomson vnunet.com
